Sense of Wonder Night

On September 21st we presented Backworlds on Sense of Wonder Night during Tokyo Game Show 2012. You can view all the presentations at the SOWN Presentation site. Our presentation starts at 01:45:00 but make sure to watch the other presentations as well as there was some very interesting games there.

Among my personal favorites was Nyamyam’s Tengami and Ezra Hanson-White’s Memory of a Broken Dimension, but they were all interesting in their own way! We also played Noah Sasso’s BariBariBall on-stage and Anders beat me by cheating.

Our presentation received the Joju Games award, giving us this golden squeaky rattle. The game Grandmaster received the audience award and if you watch the presentation video you will see their presentation was quite entertaining and funny! We had a great time and met a lot of nice game developers and other industry people. The day before SOWN we checked out the TGS showfloor and tried a bunch of games, among them a few student projects from Japanese universities. One game we both tried was The Unfinished Swan, the original video was one of the things that inspired the Backworld prototype so it was interesting to get a chance to try the game.

Ace Attorney had an elaborate booth

We explored Tokyo a bit as well, going to a sumo tournament and eating delicious sushi, among other things. All in all, we had a great time!
